Lost my mind is a spontaneous loss of control, or display of emotion, or acting in a manner that is not group sanctioned. E.G: If you caught yourself complaining you might say, “Sorry, I lost my mind.” Phrases like this become shorthand so people in the community know to disregard something you might have said.
